Green Woods Charter School, currently located at the Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education in Roxborough, is in the process of purchasing the Greylock Manor property in Chestnut Hill, according to a statement released by the school.

Their move to Greylock Manor, 209 W. Chestnut Hill Ave., will help meet the school’s growing enrollment demands, according to a statement from the school. Green Woods hopes to have some of its students attending classes at the new campus by the start of the 2011-2012 school year, while others will remain at the current location. It hopes to move all of its students there by September 2012.

The manor is currently the home of several small offices. It has not been a private residence in many years.

“Once the due diligence period is over and the purchase is complete, Green Woods Charter School will begin to bring this historic property back to life by meshing its rich history with our school’s environmental mission.” Green Woods CEO Jean M. Wallace said in the statement. “Our goal is to build around the existing manor in a way as to not interfere with its majestic presence in the Chestnut Hill Community.”

The school has scheduled a meeting with near neighbors for Sunday afternoon.
