An early morning snow shower didn't keep people from attending the Chestnut Hill Community Association's annual community blood drive today
This morning at 10:30 a.m. a few dozen donors were either being screened to donate, waiting to donate or actually in the process of donating blood inside Springside Chestnut Hill Academy's Vare Field House. The drive was staffed by Miller Keystone.
Carol Graves, volunteer representative for Miller Keystone said that they were expecting to collect at least 60 units of blood at the community drive. She said that Miller Keystone collects approximately 500 units of blood in blood drive efforts around the region every day.
This year's drive was organized by CHCA board members Jay Valinis and Elizabeth Bales. Valinis, Bales and CHCA board member Tom Hemphill were manning the sign in table and helping donors get started in the screening process.
