Elizabeth Grafe Stout Vogdes died at Cathedral Village in Roxborough on April 8, 2012 at the age of 86. A resident of Wyndmoor, Pa., for 40 years, she had lived at Cathedral Village since 2002. Born into a family of musicians, Betty, as she was familiarly known, was raised in Glenside, Pa., spending many happy summers at Beach Haven, N.J. She was a pianist who graduated from Philadelphia Conservatory of Music (now part of University of the Arts), and Indiana University in Bloomington, IN. She began concertizing while still in high school, and she continued teaching piano for half a century. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, John R. (Jack), three daughters Elizabeth (Beth), Barbara and Ellen, four grandchildren, and two sisters, Jeanette Donaldson and Nancy Gensch. Funeral services were held on Saturday April 14. Int. private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Betty’s name may be sent to Pennsylvania Ballet, 1819 JFK Boulevard, Suite 210, Philadelphia, Pa. 19103.
