Local blues rock favorites, the Dukes of Destiny, will close the Chestnut Hill Community Association's Pastorius Park Concert series tonight, Aug. 1. All concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. and are free and open to the public. The series was made possible by grants from the Chestnut Hill Community Fund and Chestnut Hill Hospital.

According to the Dukes website, the seven-piece band is: “the area's best loved and longest lived blues and old school R&B band. Powered by a tight, driving rhythm section and featuring four outstanding instrumental soloists and five dynamic vocalists, the Dukes have a vast repertoire of rearranged blues standards and moving originals. Together for more than a quarter century, they put on a great live show, getting people up shouting, dancing and having a great time. The Dukes have recorded three CDs and are currently in the studio cutting their fourth which is due to be released in July.”

The band is composed of the following members: Harmonica player John Colgan Davis, saxophonist Carl “CC” Crabtree, bassist Rich Curtis, Drummer Bob Holder, singer Arlyn Wolters, keyboardist, “Chicago” Carl Snyder and guitarist Rich Ray Adler..

All concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. The rain location for all concerts will be at the lower school auditorium of Springside Chestnut Hill Academy, 8000 Cherokee St.

Decisions to move the concerts will be made after 6 p.m. Call 215-248-8810 to check on the day of the concert.
