Chestnut Hill Hospital has again promised the Chestnut Hill Community Fund $20,000, $10,000 of which is earmarked for the annual Pastorius Park Concert Series, sponsored by the Chestnut Hill Community Association and the other $10,000 to be added to the general fund drive, which each year is distributed to area non-profits in the form of grants.
This is the sixth straight year, the hospital has made a five-figure donation to the fund.
John Cacciamani, the hospital's new CEO said the the gift was an important investment in the community and in an institution that shares common goals with the hospital.
“It's consistent with our mission,” Cacciamani said. “We want to provide the highest quality service to the community and this is way to work with an organization that also does its best to improve the community.”
Cacciamani said he personally enjoys the Pastorius Park concerts and was looking forward to finding other ways to work with the community fund and the CHCA. Last week, Cacciamani joined the CHCA board representing Chestnut Hill Hospital.
Community fund trustee Tolis Vardakis echoed Cacciamani's sentiments, noting the similar goals of each organization.
“With their increasing services and investment in the community, it shows they are serious about the community,” Vardakis said, noting the recent multi-million dollar expansion of the hospital's Emergency Room, ICU and surgery center. “We're also interested in promoting the hospital because it is such a good institution and serves an important role in the community.”
Chestnut Hill Community Association President Brien Tilley agreed.
“It's a very generous gift,” Tilley said. “It speaks volumes of their dedication to the community.”
The Chestnut Hill Community Fund drive is ongoing. It's goal is to raise $100,000 by March 1. That money will be allocated to community non-profits that apply to the fund for grants.
So far, the fund drive has raised $45,795 from 322 donors.
