Police, Verizon and Philadelphia Water Department crews were called to address a water main break this afternoon that was spewing gallons of water in a steady stream down Stenton Avenue and blocking early rush-hour traffic both ways.
The water gushed from the sidewalk and road just above Roumfort Road and flowed for two blocks to Woodbrook Lane where it flowed into a storm drain.
Residents in the area reported interrupted water service.
