Lag BaOmer is a Jewish holiday that celebrates the legacy of the great sage Rabbi Akiva and of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai, the author of the Zohar. This day is traditionally celebrated by “gathering in the fields” with friends, in the spirit of Rabbi Akiva’s teachings on the biblical instruction “love your fellow as yourself.’ Fire is also a part of this celebration, alluding to the fiery teachings of Rabbi Shimon. On Sunday, April 28, at 7 – 8 p.m., Chabad will host a Marshmallow Roast in honor of this day. Adults and children are invited to celebrate with fire, marshmallows and s’mores, and story and song.
The event will take place at 7334 Rural Lane in West Mt. Airy. There is no charge, but please RSVP at www.ChabadNWP.org.
