Woman robbed at gunpoint in Chestnut Hill

A 31-year-old woman was robbed at gunpoint while walking home in Chestnut Hill on Monday, July 1, at approximately 4 p.m., according to Officer Tanya Little, a spokeswoman for the Philadelphia Police Department.

According to the police report, the Chestnut Hill resident was walking down the 8500 block of Shawnee Street when a man approached her from behind, pointed a gun at her and demanded she give him her purse and wedding ring. After she gave him the items, he fled on foot. The woman walked home and immediately called police.

Police describe the suspect as an African-American male with a medium complexion and goatee, 6 feet tall, 180 lbs, medium build in his late 20s to early 30s. He was last seen wearing a dark-colored long sleeve shirt with dark blue jeans and brown boots.
