A permanent Children’s Garden was prepared and planted by Norwood-Fontbonne’s First Communion students last April as part of their service outreach.

Located in a special plot at the Nello Memorial Garden outside Assumption Hall Convent, this garden has been cared for, thanks to many students and their families throughout the summer months. Now time for harvest, the “fruits” of the garden will be donated to the Rev. Mike McCue’s de Sales Service Works organization in Camden, N.J. McCue, an Oblate of St. Francis de Sales priest and longtime friend of NFA, is thankful for the fresh produce, including eggplant, cucumbers, tomatoes, and peppers, that will bring nutrition to families in need in west Camden.

“The entire school community will continue the care, planting, and harvesting of this garden for years to come,” explained Sister Marjorie Lawless, NFA Montessori teacher and coordinator of the garden. “The garden project is one of the many ways NFA students live out the call to treasure others and the earth,” she said.
