“The Verdict” screening April 8

The Verdict

The 1982 film “The Verdict” will screen April 8 as part of Chestnut Hill Film Group's ongoing series 'Tuesday Nights at the Movies.'

An alcoholic lawyer stumbles through a medical malpractice suit until he realizes his apathy is hurting the lives of his clients and his career. Determined to turn his life around, he embraces the case to punish the guilty, get a proper settlement for his clients and reconcile his past mistakes.

Directed by Sidney Lumet and based on the novel by Barry Reed, the film stars Paul Newman, Charlotte Rampling, Jack Warden and James Mason. It was nominated for Best Picture at the 1983 Academy Awards.

The movie begins at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, at Woodmere Art Museum. Doors open at 6:30. Admission is free, although donations are recommended.
