Members of the Chestnut Hill Senior Center, friends and residents of the greater Chestnut Hill community are invited to a very special “First Friday at One.” Next Friday, June 3, the memoir writing class and the center’s writer’s group will introduce “Square Table,” a collection of stories, poetry and reminiscences. The writers will be available to read selections and discuss their work with the audience. There is no charge to attend the program, which begins at 1 p.m.; refreshments will be served.

For those of you who already enjoy classes and other activities at the Chestnut Hill Senior Center, remember that we will be closed to honor Memorial Day on Monday and Tuesday May 30-31. For those who have thought about trying one of our classes, the center will be open all summer Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. A full schedule will be available for aerobics, needlecrafts (Monday), hook and needle (Friday), classic films, tai chi, bridge (Wednesday and Thursday groups), art workshop, the writer’s group, short stories, yoga and armchair yoga. Great books-great authors (formerly known as “literature”) and Italian classes will be on vacation all summer, and the French conversation group will take a break during June or July.

The Chestnut Hill Community Association sponsors the Senior Center for the benefit of all adults, regardless of their age or place of residence. The center is located at 7999 Crittenden Street, up the block from Market Square Shopping Center. Call for more detailed information about classes, day trips and special activities: 215-248-0180.
