MARIE MCKENNA was honored at commencement ceremonies at William Penn Charter School with the presentation of the Penn Charter Alumni Award. The award is given to a member of the senior class with an exemplary record of scholarship, character, leadership and athletic achievement. McKenna, of Wyndmoor, will attend Princeton University in the fall.
JEFFREY D. MARRAZZO, a native of Mount Airy, was recently appointed as special assistant to Pennsylvania Gov. Edward G. Rendell. Marrazzo had served as deputy director of the Governor's Office of Management and Productivity. As special assistant, Marrazzo will serve as the Governor's Office liaison to the newly created Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, will manage the Commonwealth's response to the federal Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) Commission and will work on a series of special health care and telecommunications projects for the governor. Marrazzo, who was recently accepted into a joint masters program in business and public policy at The Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and The Harvard University John F. Kennedy School of Government, plans to attend the program after his work for the governor is complete.
SPRINGSIDE’S HAHNA KANE attended the 2005 National Youth Leadership Forum (NYLF) on Technology in San Jose, Calif. From June 27-July 6 … AND … Kane was just chosen as one of the top three winners in the Verizon YouthTech Contest … AND … Kane will attend Swarthmore College in the fall.

TALENTED YOUTH. “Lord of the Dance,” “Ode to Joy,” the Milk Commercial,” “Who’s on First” — throw in some magic, and even a stand-up comic. These were some of the acts that Norwood-Fontbonne Academy students enjoyed this spring as a group of their fellow classmates participated in this year’s NFA Talent Show. Fifty students from different grade levels performed in skits, piano and guitar solos, dance numbers and singing presentations. REAL BOYS WRITE POETRY. On Wednesday, June 8, all 36 boys from the second grade of Chestnut Hill Academy gathered at Borders to read poems they wrote during this school year. Poetry is a major focus of the curriculum, taught by reading specialist Alison Samph and classroom teachers Gerri Allen, Doreen Breitkreutz and Greg Woznicki. The Chestnut Hill Borders has hosted this annual event for CHA second graders for more than 5 years.

Brown – Griffin wedding
Dr. Mary Allyson Brown, formerly of West Mt. Airy, the daughter of Henry and Melinda Brown of Weston, Mass., was married on April 30 to Ken Curtis Griffin, son of the Rev. and Mrs. Thomas A. Griffin of Willow Grove. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Howard M. Haywood at Myrtle Baptist Church, Newton, Mass.
Dr. Brown, known as Allyson, will continue to use her name professionally. She is an obstetrician-gynecologist with the Women’s Health Care Group/Valley Forge, Phoenixville. She was graduated from Wellesley College and received her medical degree from Emory University.
Mr. Griffin, of Worcester, Pa., is a graphic artist and multimedia producer with Aranco Productions of Norristown. He is a graduate of The Art Institute of Philadelphia.
