Nelson A. Diaz, of Chestnut Hill, Walter D’Alessio, of Roxborough, have been named to the Philadelphia Advisory Board of PNC Bank, a group that provides support and guidance on policy issues and business development.

Army Pfc. Christopher M. Marinaccio, a 2000 graduate of Roxborough High School, has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Knox, Ky.

The Pennsylvania Federation of Museums and Historical Organizations has awarded a certificate of honorable mention to the Germantown Historical Society for the Italian American Communities in Northwest Philadelphia Project. Also the History Hunters Youth Reporter Program, on which the Society collaborates with other members of Historic Germantown Preserved, is receiving an Award of Excellence.

On June 7, The Reverend John Kettelberger, pastor of Saint Vincent’s Catholic Church came to the office of Dr. Brett Cardonick to receive boxes of food for the church’s Emergency Food Cupboard. With the addition of this food, the church was able to provide enough food for 3,501 meals to 196 households, consisting of 389 people.

Air Force Tech. Sgt. Brian K. Atwater has graduated from the Noncommissioned Officer (NCO) Academy at McGuire Air Force Base, Wrightstown, N.J. Atwater, an airfield management chief, is a 1982 graduate of Germantown High School.

UCP of Philadelphia & Vicinity has added four people to its board of directors, each to serve a three-year term: Ellen Funk, of Haverford; Patricia J. Green, of King of Prussia; Rita Reed, of Philadelphia; and North Wales resident Gary Weyhmuller.

Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Roderick E. Price, a 2001 graduate of Germantown High School, is participating in Summer Pulse 04, the Navy's first exercise of its new operational construct, the Fleet Response Plan (FRP).

Charles Weston, owner of Carlson Wagonlit Travel, 8138 Germantown Ave., has once again made the Condé Nast Traveler list of top travel specialists in the country, as described in the August issue of the magazine.

The Stockton Rush Bartol Foundation, which funds cultural organizations in the Philadelphia area, has awarded grants (locally) to the Allens Lane Art Center, $5,000; the Sedgwick Cultural Center, $10,000; Settlement Music School, $2,000; and Woodmere Art Museum, $1,000.

Stephanie Franklin-Suber, of Chestnut Hill, partner at Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll, has been named first vice chair of the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau board of directors.

Recent Franklin & Marshall College graduates include: Jacquelyn Jinan Roth, a G.A. alum from Ambler, with departmental honors; G.A. alum Evan Z. Cohen, of Blue Bell; Lindsay Bard Hilbert, of Ft. Washington, summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa; Stephanie Park Woolbert, of Ft. Washington; C.H.A. grad Anthony Howard Matthias Breslau, of Glenside; Jamie Heather Brown, of Lafayette Hill, magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa; G.A. alum Dana C. Dorn, of Lafayette Hill.

Villanova resident Barbara D’Iorio Martino was named the 2004 recipient of the Eleanore Dolan Egan ’28 Award for Outstanding Service to Chestnut Hill College, which is Mrs. Martino’s alma mater.

Peter Evans, of Wyndmoor, received a bachelor's degree in bioengineering  from the Syracuse University L.C. Smith College of Engineering and Computer Science.
