Springfield to adopt vision plan

The Springfield Township Board of Commissioners have tentatively agreed to pursue a formal vision plan for the township, according to Commissioner Kathleen Lunn.

The move, proposed by Lunn, came at the end of an hours-long workshop meeting Monday night. Though no official vote was taken, the board's approval was unanimous, she said.

The township will work from the existing plan of the Flourtown-Erdenheim Enhancement Association, a group seeking to revitalize the Bethlehem Pike corridor, Lunn said. As part of the first step, the township planning commission will review the plan, which calls for streetscape improvements and traffic-lane realignment, and could suggest additions, she said. Public hearings will follow.

The vision plan will serve as either an amendment or a supplement to the township's comprehensive plan, Lunn said.
