Senior Center News
We want you back! The Chestnut Hill Senior Center has great things in store as you say goodbye to the lazy, hazy days of summer.
Italian intructor Delia Melograna will return on Monday, Sep. 12 with 2 classes: Level II is for those who began studying the language in the last year or so (or those whose Italian needs brushing off); Level III for advanced students of the language or native speakers who want to have fun. Mrs. Melograna offers this as a 14-week course; its cost is $75 to Center members, $85 to non-members. Pre-registration is requested.
Sister Ann Edward Bennis is set to bring back Great Books and Authors on September 19 (Monday morning at 10:30). Come every week or whenever you can. The Short Story discusion Group gets together every Thursday at 12:30 or as often as your schedule permits.
French Conversation will resume a bit later in the Fall.
Spanish classes with Danielle Taylor are also on the horizon.
Our early (8:30 M, T, Th) Aerobics continues to jump-start the day for many active Seniors, with new-to-the-Center instructor Sue McInerney who has some new tricks up her sleeve to keep it simple, keep it fun. Why not try a class? Or, if Tai Chi (Wed. mornings) or Yoga (Fri. mornings) are more to your liking, join one of those groups. Sewing, knitting and other needle crafts meet twice a week (Monday mornings, Friday afternoons); the Art Workshop is again gathering on Wednesday mornings.
The Senior Center invites Bridge players old and new to be part of the Wednesday or Thursday groups at noon. Pinochle is played on Tuesdays at 10; next date will be Sept. 13....come on down!
Members of the Center and the neighborhood are invited to inaugurate our "First Fridays @ One" for the Fall. On September 9 James Sturdivant, editor of the Chestnut Hill Local, will tell us everything we always wanted to know about the joys and heartaches of running a community newspaper.
