Elizabeth Clattenberg, of Wyndmoor, a Springside School graduate, has begun studies as a first-year student at Hamilton College in Clinton, N.Y.

Daniel Seals of Mt. Airy, a junior majoring in biology in The College of Arts and Sciences at Syracuse University, will serve as a resident advisor in Sadler Hall for the 2004-05 academic year.

Alyson Ledder, of Plymouth Meeting, a junior at Mount Saint Joseph Academy, was selected for membership in the National Society of High School Scholars. The Society invites only those students who have superior academic achievement and are among the top scholars in the nation.

Chestnut Hill Academy graduate Peter Seymour, of Chestnut Hill, has been awarded a President's Scholarship at Marietta College for the 2004-2005 academic year. The scholarship provides awards of $6,000 - $9,000 annually for up to four years of study at the college.

Meredith Gardner, of Lafayette Hill, a junior in Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, was among the over 545 students who participated in the Goon Squad this August as part of Syracuse Welcome 2004: A Slice of SU Life, the University's signature orientation program for new students.

Bishop McDevitt High School's new state-of-the-art chemistry/physical science laboratory was dedicated on September 12, completing the school's Science 2000 Project, a campaign to renovate all of the science education facilities. A $100,000 grant from the Connelly Foundation and contributions from parents, alumni and friends made the new lab, the final phase of the project, possible.

Local new freshmen at Syracuse University include Aaron Kripke, of Wyndmoor; Jan Weaner, Erdenheim; Mallory Duffy, Lafayette Hill; and Rebecca Molotsky, Lafayette Hill.

Louisa D. Ross, of Chestnut Hill, has been enrolled in William Smith College as a member of the class of 2008.

Germantown's Ramón Ramon Monteiro was recognized by the YMCA Achievers program with its Character Development Award for attendance and punctuality. Achievers, the Y's career mentoring and educational enrichment program for teens, is designed to inspire minority youth to pursue high academic achievement, personal growth and careers by pairing them with positive adult role models."
