He wished his Blue Devils could've cashed in on more of their scoring chances, but aside from that Chestnut Hill Academy soccer coach Bob DiBenedetto had little to complain about last Saturday as his club posted a 2-0 Homecoming Day victory over visiting Cheltenham High School.
Outshooting the Panthers 23-6, the Devils improved their record to 7-2 thanks to goals by seniors Andrew Ferry and Pat Spanninger. Junior goalkeeper Taylor Rooke made three saves to record the shutout.
Winner of the Keystone Tournament in central Pennsylvania the weekend before, CHA ran its win streak to four games in a row with last Saturday's result, so team morale should be high as the local squad launches into the Inter-Ac League schedule this week.

In the two Homecoming contests actually played on the Chestnut Hill College campus last Saturday, the Griffins' volleyball squad fell to Neumann College, 3-0, while another group of netters prevailed over Hood College in tennis, 5-4.
With freshman Lisa Graeber out for the season with an ankle injury, the six available CHC racquetwomen each played singles and doubles, as did the half-dozen from Hood. Because this makes for a long match in any circumstances and Hood had traveled from Maryland, each bout consisted of one pro set. The outcome lifted the Griffins' record to 2-3 on the season, while the visiting Blazers slid to 7-3.
Doubles were first up, and Chestnut Hill's premier pair, juniors Kathleen O'Rourke and Kristine Kozin, topped Katie Webb and Amelia Cotter of Hood, 8-4. The Blazers took the other two doubles contests, with Julie Roi and Marie Caron winning 8-2 over hosts Jen Mowad (a senior) and Angela Garafalo (a junior), 8-2, and with Chelsea Sprankle and Christina Rosa capturing the number three match, 8-6, over CHC freshman...
The U-17 intramural league entered its third week of the season. The league had previously been U-16 but the age limit was increased by one year. As a result the league retained most of its co-ed senior players allowing for even better and skillful soccer then before. Most of these kids have been playing against each other for 6- 8 years bringing about many friendly rivalries for claiming the rights as to which is the best team. The league is co-ed and can at times reflect an amazing display of ball handling, defensive skills, goal tending and shot making. The players are not shy about showing off their talents especially when it is at the expense of a good friend.
In this weeks competition the Burn beat the Fury 3-1 raising their league leading record to 3 - 0. The Fury's goal was scored by newcomer Marcelo Freire, Andres younger and talented brother. Evan O'Toole kept the Fury in the game with many great point blank saves. Kenny Feder was especially strong for the Fury on defense while Levi Napkins, and Sebastian Lundry Thomas provided a lot of offensive spark. Leah Dean and Stevie Garfinkel both played outstanding games.
The Burn are coached by Patrick Fennimore and led by senior standout Eliot Shorr-Parks. The Burn took a 2-0 lead in the first half as they controlled the action. The Fury tried to come back...
