DRC meeting
By Meredith Sonderskov
Top of the Hill Market's request for a use certificate for take-out food was the main business of the Development Review Committee on Tuesday evening, October 19. Barbara and Bill Markoff, owners of the market, submitted letters from the Chestnut Hill Business Association and neighboring businesses supporting their petition.
During a short discussion, Greg Woodring, committee chair, pointed out that this is a buffer property between Germantown Avenue and residences on East Evergreen Avenue and the DRC acts as gatekeeper for the community. The motion to approve the request passed unanimously with the inclusion of the phrase "if issues should arise, the owners will work closely with the Community Association and Business Association to resolve the problem." This recommendation for approval will go to the zoning board hearing on October 26.
Two other items on the agenda were postponed: the application for a curb cut and driveway at 319 West Mermaid Lane and the installation of antennae for cell towers at the Chestnut Hill Towers apartments, 7412-20 Stenton Ave. The owners of the properties were not present to testify.
