CHYSC travel soccer roundup U-13 Girls The U-13 Girls Blue Lightning team kept its undefeated season intact with a tie and a win this weekend. The Lighting played to a 1-1 tie on Saturday against Lansing United with Shelby Tucker scoring the lone goal. The girls beat the Upper Dublin Lightning 4-0 on Sunday. Linnea Cripe fed Abbi Cook for the team's first goal. Shelby Tucker scored the second and third goals on assists from Alfia White and Emily Powell respectively. Shelby Tucker then scored an unassisted goal to complete her Sunday hat trick. The U-10 Boys 5th division Blue Lightning won a decisive 5-0 victory over the Horsham soccer club this Saturday. George Kunkel had an outstanding afternoon, scoring two goals and sharing the shutout in goal with Chuck Lazarus. The other two goals were scored by Andrew Stenger and Mark Defendorfer, with assists by Robert Jacoby. Robert also scored the final goal. U-10 ( 2nd division) Boys The U-10 Boys team in the 2nd division traveled to Northeast Philadelphia to face the Lighthouse Soccer Club team. In the first half, the Blue Lightning pulled ahead 3-1 on goals scored by Joey Powell, Philip Kelly and Sam Conant. In the second half, the Lighthouse swarmed to the ball and took the game to 5-3. A penalty kick was converted by Peter Ferraro midway through the half, and Sam Conant blasted a direct kick from 24 yards to score, but the hosts scored one more goal to put the game away, 6-5. Rebounding after a slow start this season, the U-13 Boys won for a second straight time on Saturday, beating Ukranian 1-0. Jason Symonette scored the game's only goal on a long shot from just inside the 18. Goalkeepers Josh Goldenberg and John Canning teamed up for the shutout. With Ukranian pressing late in the game for the tying goal, fine defensive work from Sam Mercuris, Nick Marini, Noah Goldstein and Jordan Dean sealed the win for Chestnut Hill. The previous Saturday, the U-13s beat Upper Makefield 3-2 on goals from Josh Goldenberg, Dylan Tracy and Andrew Greenspon. U-9 Boys The Chestnut Hill Blue Lightning U-9s battled for a 1-1 tie against the Lenape Valley Killer Bees. Chestnut Hill took it to the Bees in the first half with the strong play of Conor Biddle and Greg Holdsman at midfield and Andy Hall, Sam Pardys and Barry Cross on attack. Andy Hall scored the lone goal for Chestnut Hill. Pedro Ramos, Wes Tarver and Greg Goldstein each played their best game of the season. Chestnut Hill's defense was nearly impenetrable thanks to Danny Thomas and Cole Brown, backed by goalies Jacob Jordan, who maintained a shutout in the first half, and Jack Moseley whose diving save of a penalty kick kept the game close. |
