Chestnut Hill girls soccer team nets tie, boys fall in tight match
U-12
In a hard fought game with Hunter, the Chestnut Hill girls U12 team tied with their fiercest rivals 2-2. The game started with the Chestnut Hill team playing up hill and into the wind. However Chestnut Hill quickly established control of the game with Emma Ebert, Rezyna Hughes and Phoebe Ingersol controlling the middle of the field.
A good cross from Eli Stout created the first opportunity which Kelsey Chapman and Toni Hall both slotted into the corner of the Hunter goal. 1-0 Chestnut Hill. As the game progressed Chestnut Hill continued to create the chances - with Kelsey Chapman distributing well to other forwards. Finally another cross from Chapman found Stout in front of goal to score the simplest of goals. 2-0 Chestnut Hill.
Towards the end of the half Hunter started to establish themselves and after a period of prolonged pressure, scored a well taken goal from the edge of the penalty area. In the 2nd half Chestnut Hill dominated for much of the period, with Libby Main creating all sorts of problems for Hunter on the left, and Kelsey Chapman going close a number of times. The defense of Allie Clark, Katherine Colina, Tara Harrington, and Sarah Thomas stifled the few attacks that were mustered by Hunter. Tasmin Lamb started to dominate the middle of the field, however the extra goal needed to secure the game would not come. Julia Binswanger, Anna Singer and Eve Maxson all made progress down the wings, but Chestnut Hill could not score.
With 5 minutes left Hunter started to put Chestnut Hill under pressure, and the defense could not clear the ball. A goal mouth scramble saw Hunter hit the crossbar. With the last kick of the game Hunter ended up with the ball on the edge of the penalty area and managed to score the tying goal. An entertaining and hard fought game came to an end.
