CHYSC U-10 boys defeat Whitpain 7-1 By COOPER ROBB In Chestnut Hill Youth Sports Club action last weekend, the U-10 boys’ fourth division went on the road to face Whitpain. Toughened by the competition of the Hempfield Tournament, the Blue Lightning started out strong and scored early when Will Twyman’s shot found the back of the net. Johnny Hass, who assisted on the first goal, converted a nice cross from Henry Bushnell to make the score 2-0. The tenacious defense of Augie Frank and Gilman Myran and the accomplished goal tending of Gabe Buchanan repelled repeated Whitpain attacks. Long-range shots by Hank Goldenberg and Twyman found their way through to make the score 4-0 at half time and Chestnut Hill didn’t let up in the second stanza. Creative play and hustle in the midfield by Kyle Espenshade, Bryce Low and Daniel Spivack continued to create scoring opportunities with Gabriel Osorio- Soto converting a deft left footer, Jacob Spivack knocking in a well-placed shot and finally an own goal by Whitpain to make the final score Chestnut Hill 7, Whitpain 1. The U-15 girls were shut out for the third consecutive game, 2-0 at Council Rock. Despite not generating many shots on goal while sliding around a muddy field, CH did an effective job of controlling the middle of the field, led by Laura White, Tierney Wilson, Logan McGill and Cecilia Davis-Hayes. The U-10 girls finished off a spectacular season, topping Hunter 1-0. Allowing only four goals in 10 games, the Lightning’s defensive prowess was on display again Saturday. Sarah Thomas's and Mariah Young-Jones's powerful boots out of the backfield, Toni Hall's four turnarounds at midfield, and Ellie Stout's speed and focus on the ball consistently kept the Hunter forwards at bay. On offense, Allie Clarke moved the ball up the line on three successive throw-ins, Miranda Webb made a fine long carry, and Tara Harrington kept popping up in the right place at the right time. The decisive goal was scored by Kelsey Chapman with an assist from Libbie Maine. The U-9 boys continued their winning streak on Saturday, beating Vereinigung Erzgebirge (V.E.) by a score of 8-0. The offense worked together seamlessly with six different players scoring goals off a series of well-orchestrated passing plays. The defense truly stood out in this match, allowing just a smattering of shots on goal and consistently preventing V.E. from building offensive momentum. Bobby Koehler continued his outstanding work at fullback, assisted by Sam Conant, Harrison Tracy and Will Randall. Ben Holl and Joey Powell contributed outstanding performances in goal. In the midfield, Sam Rogers, Ethan Rabinowitz and Jamie MacEachern dominated the action. On

Hill goals were scored by Max Bolno, John Carney and two by
