v The Chestnut Hill Holiday House Tour -- five private residences decorated by area interior designers and florists -- is on Saturday, Dec. 4 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on 150-year-old Summit Street.

v On Sunday, Dec. 5 from 1-3 p.m., two characters from The Pennsylvania Ballet's Nutcracker will visit Chestnut Hill. Kids can pose for photos with the beautiful Sugarplum Fairy and dramatic Mouse King at O'Doodles Toy Store, 8335 Germantown Ave. and Intermission, 8405 Germantown Ave.

v On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights in December, many stores along the Avenue will have extended shopping hours, there will be carolers and live brass bands on the Avenue, a free shopper's trolley, as well as promotions and receptions in many stores and restaurants.
