David D. Heath, 89, formerly of Plymouth Meeting, a retired family medicine physician, died April 1 at Foulkeways in Gwynedd, where he had resided since 2008.

Until his retirement in 1993, Dr. Heath had practiced for 34 years with Plymouth Meeting Family Medicine. He was on the staff at Chestnut Hill, Montgomery and Sacred Heart hospitals.

Born in Philadelphia, he was a graduate of Germantown Friends School, Harvard University and Temple University Medical School. Following a residency at the University of Michigan, he practiced family medicine in Michigan for four years.

He was a conscientious objector during World War II and served in the American Field Service from 1943 to 1944 and in the British Friends Ambulance Service from 1945 to 1946.

Dr. Heath was a member of the Montgomery County Medical Society and the Germantown Friends Meeting.

He is survived by his wife, the former Elizabeth Chapin; daughters Tacie H. Draznin, of Kalamazoo, Mich., Karen H. Stine, of Maple Glen, Anne C. Heath, of Mendocino, Calif.; a son, David O.; 11 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 21, at the Community Center of Foulkeways, 1120 Meeting House Rd., Gwynedd.
