Dozens of public service employees and their families enjoyed a picnic dinner courtesy of the Chestnut Hill Community Association and numerous local businesses that contributed the food. The picninc preceded the Pastorius Park Summer Concert by Hot Club of Philadelphia.
Volunteers manned a table stocked with goods: wraps, pasta, potato salad, fresh watermelon deserts and a lot more. Food and funds came in from Baker Street Bread Company, Bowman Properties, Cosimo’s Pizza, McNally’s Tavern, Roller’s Restaurant and Top of the Hill Cafe. The picnic was well attended by local 14th District Police officers and firefighters from Chestnut Hill’s Engine 37 who, with their families, were treated to a free meal.
The picnic is an annual event to show a little appreciation for the work public employees do for the neighborhood.
