Springside Chestnut Hill Academy will host the fourth annual “Rock the Runway,” a student-organized runway show for charity sponsored by the school’s Fashion Club, on Saturday, March 2, from 6 to 9 p.m.

Each year the students select a different charity to receive the proceeds from the event. Past runway shows have raised over $8,000 for charities such as the American Cancer Society. This year’s proceeds will be donated to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia to support pediatric cancer patients.

Members of the SCH Fashion Club styled the looks based on this year’s theme “Fashion Through the Years.” Each model will wear an outfit inspired by a certain decade, ranging from the 1950s to the 2000s. There will be six models for each decade, wearing clothing and accessories supplied by the SCH community. The Fashion Club cast 36 students as models, both male and female, to strut the catwalk in their stylish ensembles.

In addition to the runway, the event features musical performances by talented SCH students and raffle prizes including gift cards and products from local businesses. T-shirts, headbands and hair ties are available for purchase as well in support of CHOP.

“We’ve had a few people in the community affected by pediatric cancer and having a fashion show is a great way for us to incorporate something that we love [fashion] while honoring those affected and helping other children try to overcome the obstacles thrown their way,” said Leah Beight, the junior head of the club

Tickets can be purchased in advance for $8 or for $10 at the door. To purchase tickets in advance, email the Senior Head of the Club, Jacqueline Weiss at jweiss@sch.org.
