People of all ages were dancing in the street at Mt. Airy USA’s “Street Fare: Sip, Savor, Stroll” (formerly Mt. Airy Night Market) held on Thursday, Sept. 19 from 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. With more than 40 food trucks and restaurants, there was something for everyone. Foodies had an eclectic assortment to feast on – whether it was Samosa Deb’s Indian samosas and kabobs or Relish’s chick-’in’-waffles. There was no shortage of tantalizing treats. For those with a sweet tooth there was Street Box Cupcakes, Zsa’s Gourmet Ice Cream, Mompop ‘s all natural popsicles and many more.
This year’s event featured an outdoor simulcast of the Eagles vs. Kansas City Chiefs game and a new family activity zone. Kadillac Tattoo offered participants specially designed temporary tattoos. Participants could even design their own food jewelry.
There was no shortage of live music at this year’s event. Fare goers were treated to the sounds of Grammy nominated Sharon Katz & The Peace Train, Lil Pookie & the Zydeco Sensations, Lisa Chavous and the Second Line, The GTV’s and The Gin Canaries.
Elizabeth Moselle, Mt. Airy USA’s director of commercial revitalization and business support, said this year’s event attracted more than 10,000 people.
“Street Fare is not only a fabulous street festival, it’s a celebration of the continued revitalization of Germantown Avenue,” Moselle said.
