Chestnut 7 at 8201 Germantown Ave., a restaurant that opened with a tremendous amount of promise and enthusiasm in 2011, has apparently closed its doors for good.

A note posted on the door written by the management states in part, β€œIt is with great sadness that we will be closing our doors effective immediately. We thank you for your continued patronage of our restaurant and we regret that we weren’t able to continue to serve you here in Chestnut Hill.”

Can’t say I’m surprised. The food was sub-par and the service left plenty to be desired. Half of the staff had previously worked at other restaurants in the Hill and their jumping ship was hardly a coup de grace to their previous employers (I avoided the place since I had received poor service from their staff before ever setting foot in the door.)

Not sure what Mark down there is talking about, but I’ve been there a few times and was very impressed with the quality of the food and the service. This place didnt make it because people from that area are used to McDonalds and Burger King and dont appreciate fine food. For Chestnut Hill, this place was like Vetri. Shame it didnt work – loved their burger.

I am saddened to see this place go….I love the owner…and wish this place could have survived. Good food, great atmosphere…what more does one want?
