For college-bound athletes who are receiving scholarships for a fall season sport, last Wednesday was the beginning of the initial signing period for the NCAA’s National Letter of Intent. Last week’s weather scuttled plans for signing ceremonies at local schools, so some athletes, like Mount St. Joseph Academy’s Millie Stefanowicz, got it done at home.
Stefanowicz, a field hockey standout, was officially notified in November that she had been accepted at Stanford University, but had to wait until last week to sign her NLOI. Down the street from the Mount, Chestnut Hill College welcomed a signee from Penn Charter, soccer player Julia Casasanto.
