Along with spring comes spring cleaning.
On Saturday, students, parents, teachers and volunteers participated in John Story Jenks Playground Clean-up Day. With their work-gloves on, the volunteers trimmed bushes, raked leaves, weeded, and cleaned the Children’s Park of Chestnut Hill. Fresh sand was added to the sandbox and over 90 cubic yards of mulch was laid down in the park. After much time, the park looked brand-new.
The clean-up was made possible by the Friends of The Children’s Park and the Friends of Jenks — along with the help of S. Vecchoine Inc., who lent a bobcat and a driver, Dan, for the day. The Children’s Park and adjacent garden are built, funded and maintained by the community, who altogether readied the park for the nice weather and the children it will bring out to play.
