Daniel Barton Jr., 90, formerly of Wyndmoor, an executive in the structural clay products industry, died June 12 of complications of Parkinson’s disease at Southampton Estates. He had been a resident of Gwynedd Estates for the past eight years.

Mr. Barton retired in 1996 as president of O.W. Ketchum Inc., manufacturers of architectural terra cotta and distributors of structural clay products. He also was a former president of the U.S. Pipe Organ Co.

Active in industry-related organizations, he was a former president of the National Association of Brick Distributors, the Structural Clay Products Institute and the U.S. Association of Manufacturers of Terra Cotta.

He was a former director of the Barton Mines Corp. and was instrumental in turning it into an international corporation.

Mr. Barton was a graduate of Chestnut Hill Academy and attended Wesleyan University and the University of Michigan before enlisting in the Army during World War II and serving in North Africa and Southern Italy.

He was a member of the Philadelphia Cricket Club, where he was an avid golfer and tennis player; the Yacht Club of Stone Harbor, where his family learned to sail, and the Union League of Philadelphia.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; daughters Linda B. Nicholson, of Huntingdon Valley, Frances B. Tate, of Parker, Colo., and Janice B. Keown, of Holderness, N.H.; a son, Wesley Ketchum Barton, of Blue Hill, Maine, and six grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 28, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 22 E. Chestnut Hill Ave. in Chestnut Hill, where he was a member.  Memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018. – WF
