 e Hal Sirowitz as he celebrates the release of his latest poetry collectio
 n <em>Stray Cat Blues.</em></p>\n<p><strong>Hal Sirowitz</strong> is the a
 uthor of six books of poetry\, <em>Mother Said</em>\, <em>My Therapist Sai
 d</em> (Crown/Random House)\, <em>Father Said</em>\, and <em>Before\, Duri
 ng &amp\; After</em> (Soft Skull Press)\, the forthcoming <em>Stray Cat Bl
 ues</em>(Backwaters Press)\, and a newly completed collection of prose poe
 try\, <em>A Hole in My Heart</em>. His work has been translated into nine 
 languages including Icelandic and Turkish. Garrison Keillor has read his w
 ork on NPR&#8217\;s Writer&#8217\;s Almanac\, and he has included Hal&#821
 7\;s poems in his anthologies\, <em>Good Poems</em> and Good Poems for Har
 d Times. Hal has performed and appeared on MTV&#8217\;s &#8220\;Spoken Wor
 d Unplugged&#8221\;\, PBS&#8217\;s &#8220\;Poetry Heaven\,&#8221\; NPR&#82
 17\;s &#8220\;All Things Considered\,&#8221\; and &#8220\;Fresh Air with T
 erry Gross.&#8221\; Awarded a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship a
 nd a New York Foundation for the Arts fellowship\, Hal is the former Poet 
 Laureate of Queens\, New York.</p>
