The Saturday night performance of “La Sonnambula” was a joy to behold. The voices were clear and projected well, the costumes were beautiful and the scenery was just enough without being distracting. Elizabeth Oliver as Amina sang like a nightengale. Timothy Oliver’s Elvino was adequate, though a bit strident and wobbly in the upper register. Tracy Sturgis was outstanding as Lisa, a WOW performance and of course Milo Morris as Rodolfo was excellent. I’m not sure which person in the program played the piano accompaniment, but she was spot-on. Superb! This was altogether a highly satisfying Sonnambula. This was my first visit to the Kroc center and I must say that I was very favorably impressed with the auditorium. The acoustics were fine and it is a comfortable space with just the right amount of intimacy.
