Middle grade novels can be one of the most magical, meaningful and memorable reads of a child’s life. Many remain timeless favorites to readers who are well into their adult years. In this crash course on the middle grade novel, we’ll look at the history of this genre, examine its trends and movements and discuss what makes a middle grade novel work. If you are currently writing in this genre, or just curious about it, this course is for you. Frankie Diane Mallis is a young adult fantasy writer and is represented by Laura Rennert.
