Participants are urged to bring (or wear) a hat, bodice, shoe-hooks or other clothing item that typically isn’t in use anymore. We’ll explore the history of fashion themes from the 1900’s to the present. Please bring a bag of gently used clothes to donate to those in need of clothing (optional). Barb Sherf, a Flourtown resident, is the founder of CommunicationsPro.com as well as CaptureLifeStories.com. In these lunch and learns she shares her passion for animals, food, and fashion. $12 per session or $30 for all three. A light lunch is included. The Teen Center located directly across from the Chestnut Hill East Train station is open every Friday night from 7:30 to 10:30 pm for 12-15 year olds. The Teen Center is now open for High School Students on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of every month from 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm. The Center is staffed by a young adult who has his/her clearances. Special Events include: Games, Movies, Drumming, Nintendo Wii, Live music and Open Mic nights. Some Fridays are just TGIF nights to hang with friends. There is free access to the Teen Center with a $25 yearly membership. All teens are admitted with a $5 guest fee charge.

Moonlight Movies In Mt. Airy, a joint partnership hosted by Mt. Airy USA, Trolley Car Diner, and the Lovett branch of the Philadelphia Free Library, begins on Friday, June 21 and runs through Friday, Aug. 16.
This year the Mt. Airy Presbyterian Church, 13 E. Mt. Pleasant Ave., has agreed to host the films in their sanctuary in cases of inclement weather.
Moviegoers can also look forward to Dining Under The Stars, which Mt. Airy USA introduced last year. From 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. each Friday, pop-up food vendors will visit the site and serve folks who want to come early and grab a bite. Movies begin at 8:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted.

June Art Exhibit at Center on the Hill
Center on the Hill, 8855 Germantown Ave.Chestnut Hill resident Verona Barrett is a local artist whose professional path was in nursing but who has filled her retirement with her love of art. Vee initially studied in Chestnut Hill with De Campbell. For the last seven years she has studied with Howard Watson at the Woodmere Art Museum, focusing primarily on watercolor. Her work will be on display at Center on the Hill through the month of June.

There will be a portion of time for a free guided tour of the Morris Arboretum on Saturday afternoon, with the emphasis being determined by the various interests of those touring. Each tour is designed specifically to highlight a particular section of the arboretum, however, there is no itinerary. It is recommended that those who are touring for the first time select the general tour of the arboretum to get an over-all idea of what the gardens have to offer. This summer, Morris Arboretum’s Garden Railway will transport visitors to the far ends of the earth. Spanning the globe, visitors will experience magical visits to The Great Wall of China (China), The Leaning Tower of Pisa (Italy), Hagia Sophia (Istanbul), Tikal (Guatemala) Maachu Picchu (Peru), Petra (Jordan), the Giza Pyramid and Alexandria Light House (Egypt), and The Eiffel Tower (Paris). Grand Opening activities will take place on Saturday. Take part in a fun kids craft and enjoy free ice cream (while supplies last) beginning at 1 p.m. Free with admission.

Chestnut Hill Hospital’s certified diabetes educator, Susan Pierce, MPT, CDE, will help you understand managing diabetes to stay healthy. All are welcome to take part in this series of small-group workshops, where participants receive personalized attention and learn what it takes to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Participants can sign up for one or all workshops, or just attend the cooking workshop. Session 2: It’s Not Just about Food: The impact of activity, options in medications, understanding blood sugar results and how to avoid complications. Session 3: Going for your Goal: Setting realistic goals and overcoming pitfalls.
