It is war time, 1942, in a small Texas town. There, four ladies of 60 who have known each other all their lives form the local garden club and have a hand in most of the social activities of the town. Laura Lee, the wife of the mayor who disappeared a year ago, is more or less the leader. The others are her sister-in-law, her sister and a married lady named Glendine. On this day, Laura Lee brings home a waifish 18-year-old girl she found at the bus stop, tired and hungry. She had been waiting for her soldier boyfriend so they could be married before he shipped out. The big-hearted ladies decide to stage a real, elaborate wedding for the girl, but, will the boy actually arrive and will the differences among the women that have been half-hidden come to the surface? This is a lovely play with laughs and heartfelt emotion. Free on-site parking. Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15
