      Develop your rhythmic skills with Philadelphia low, fast hoofing, which was created on the city’s streets in the 1930s. This session we’ll focus on great classic tap pieces from the Legendary LaVaughn Robinson, and blues from Howlin’ Wolf. Especially useful for musicians. (Tap shoes required.)

      There will be a portion of time for a free guided tour of the Morris Arboretum on Saturday afternoon, with the emphasis being determined by the various interests of those touring. Each tour is designed specifically to highlight a particular section of the arboretum, however, there is no itinerary. It is recommended that those who are touring for the first time select the general tour of the arboretum to get an over-all idea of what the gardens have to offer.       The theme of this workshop taught by August Tarrier is the multilayered self—how each of us is actually many different selves, many different stories. You’ll be provided with writing prompts to aid you in homing in on one particularly vital story from your life. We’ll be focusing on ways to make that story resonate powerfully with readers.       The SeagullEvery summer, a famous actress takes her son and brother to a beautiful country house on a lake, where they pass the time with friends and neighbors. This summer she brings her new boyfriend, a famous writer, and sets off a chain reaction of love triangles and betrayal. Two years later, everyone must face the consequences of the choices they made. Our production, set in the present day, is filled with timeless characters you’re sure to recognize. The Seagull will be the first Chekhov play produced by Allens Lane Theater in its 59-year history.

      Show times on Friday and Saturday are at 8 p.m.

      Sundays at 2 p.m.

      Tickets are $18 with reservation

      The Urban Athletics classes are a 45 minute high-intensity blend of bodyweight exercises, speed and agility training, dumbbell & kettlebell training and more. Each class is lead by an instructor, taking you through your workout step-by-step, just like personal training without the added cost. This way you don’t have to worry about what you’re workout will be each day, nor do you have to question if you’re doing an exercise incorrectly. There is always a coach on staff to lead you through each workout. The cost is $20.

In the case of inclement weather, storytime will be held in the Upper Gallery at the Visitor Center. Storytime is free for members or with regular admission.       The relationship between doctor and patient is complex and fascinating. Some artists portrayed their own relationships with doctors through satire. Others were inspired by the compassionate and life saving care they received. Still others created portraits in response to personal loss and pain. This presentation features paintings of Goya, Kahlo, Bellany, Van Gogh, Munch, and Fildes — and their relationships with their doctors. Presenter Flo Gelo is a Pastoral Psychotherapist at the Samaritan Counseling Center in Chestnut Hill and a museum guide at the Woodmere Art Museum.
