Come to Folk Dance on Fridays and make new friends and get some exercise while learning ethnic folk dances from Israel, Greece, France, Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia and more. Beautiful music and congenial company. No prior experience and no partner needed. Wear comfortable clothing.
We dance weekly year-round except for cancellations announced in advance in case of weather, holidays, etc. Instruction is by Bill Wadlinger, with occasional guest teachers–and occasional live music. The Teen Center located directly across from the Chestnut Hill East Train station is open every Friday night from 7:30 to 10:30 pm for 12-15 year olds. The Teen Center is now open for High School Students on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of every month from 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm. The Center is staffed by a young adult who has his/her clearances. Special Events include: Games, Movies, Drumming, Nintendo Wii, Live music and Open Mic nights. Some Fridays are just TGIF nights to hang with friends. There is free access to the Teen Center with a $25 yearly membership. All teens are admitted with a $5 guest fee charge.

Saturday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Sunday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.Minerals and fossils are a natural combination, creating an attractive and education exhibition for experts and amateurs of all ages. The event is sponsored by the Delaware Valley Paleontological Society and the Philadelphia Mineralogical Society. There will be exhibits from personal collections as well as displays of local and regional findings, a mineral identification table and learning activities for children. The show will feature a Kid’s Corner with a fossil dig and free mineral gifts, fossil preparation demonstrations, educational materials, door prizes and food. It is recommended that those who are touring for the first time select the general tour of the arboretum to get an over-all idea of what the gardens have to offer. Highlights of the evening include dancing and a “Support-A-Student” live auction, where guests can bid to provide a student with a variety of scholarships. Throughout the evening, guests will tempt their taste buds with a sumptuous array of savory and sweet treats from some of Chestnut Hill’s finest food and beverage purveyors, including Baker Street Bread, Zipf’s Candies, The Wine Thief, Bredenbeck’s Bakery, the Chestnut Grill, Metropolitan Bakery and more.
One lucky guest will also walk away with a diamond pendant, courtesy of master jeweler Carol Voelme Zemnick, ’75. Proceeds from the event will fund Chestnut Hill College academic scholarships.

The Urban Athletics classes are a 45 minute high-intensity blend of bodyweight exercises, speed and agility training, dumbbell & kettlebell training and more. Each class is lead by an instructor, taking you through your workout step-by-step, just like personal training without the added cost. This way you don’t have to worry about what you’re workout will be each day, nor do you have to question if you’re doing an exercise incorrectly. There is always a coach on staff to lead you through each workout. The cost is $20.

Penny, a local attorney and advocate who lost her husband to cancer 13 years ago, will provide emotional support and the tools to move forward. Additionally, Barbara will provide the opportunity for participants to talk openly in an intimate setting about life after this life-altering event.
