8855 Germantown Ave.Come to Folk Dance on Fridays and make new friends and get some exercise while learning ethnic folk dances from Israel, Greece, France, Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia and more. Beautiful music and congenial company. No prior experience and no partner needed. Wear comfortable clothing. We dance weekly year-round except for cancellations announced in advance in case of weather, holidays, etc. Instruction is by Bill Wadlinger, with occasional guest teachers –– and occasional live music. Tons of free parking behind the church. Come and try it out. Your first visit is free. $7

The Teen Center located directly across from the Chestnut Hill East Train station is open every Friday night from 7:30 to 10:30 pm for 12-15 year olds. The Teen Center is now open for High School Students on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of every month from 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm. The Center is staffed by a young adult who has his/her clearances. Special Events include: Games, Movies, Drumming, Nintendo Wii, Live music and Open Mic nights. Some Fridays are just TGIF nights to hang with friends. There is free access to the Teen Center with a $25 yearly membership. All teens are admitted with a $5 guest fee charge.

June Art Exhibit at Center on the Hill
Center on the Hill, 8855 Germantown Ave.Chestnut Hill resident Verona Barrett is a local artist whose professional path was in nursing but who has filled her retirement with her love of art. Vee initially studied in Chestnut Hill with De Campbell. For the last seven years she has studied with Howard Watson at the Woodmere Art Museum, focusing primarily on watercolor. Her work will be on display at Center on the Hill through the month of June.

There will be a portion of time for a free guided tour of the Morris Arboretum on Saturday afternoon, with the emphasis being determined by the various interests of those touring. Each tour is designed specifically to highlight a particular section of the arboretum, however, there is no itinerary. It is recommended that those who are touring for the first time select the general tour of the arboretum to get an over-all idea of what the gardens have to offer. Garden Railway – Around the World in an Afternoon1:00 pm – 3:00 pm

This summer, Morris Arboretum’s Garden Railway will transport visitors to the far ends of the earth. Spanning the globe, visitors will experience magical visits to The Great Wall of China (China), The Leaning Tower of Pisa (Italy), Hagia Sophia (Istanbul), Tikal (Guatemala) Maachu Picchu (Peru), Petra (Jordan), the Giza Pyramid and Alexandria Light House (Egypt), and The Eiffel Tower (Paris). Grand Opening activities will take place on Saturday. Take part in a fun kids craft and enjoy free ice cream (while supplies last) beginning at 1 p.m. Free with admission.
