8000 St. Martin’s LaneThe Friends of J.S. Jenks will host their annual silent auction and reception supporting music, arts and enrichment programs. This year’s theme is “Oh, the Places We’ll Go,” inspired by optimistic spirit of Dr. Seuss, this fundraising event features a variety of auction items from area businesses and organizations.
In addition to the live entertainment, kid-friendly food, appetizers, desserts, and drinks. Children are welcome to participate in games and craft activities while parents bid on auction items. This year’s event will mark the launch of a major fundraising drive to renovate Jenk’s auditorium, transforming it into a modern performance and community space while preserving its historic charm.
The cost is $20 per person; $30 for two and $40 per family. There will be a portion of time for a free guided tour of the Morris Arboretum on Saturday afternoon, with the emphasis being determined by the various interests of those touring. Each tour is designed specifically to highlight a particular section of the arboretum, however, there is no itinerary. It is recommended that those who are touring for the first time select the general tour of the arboretum to get an over-all idea of what the gardens have to offer. The Urban Athletics classes are a 45 minute high-intensity blend of bodyweight exercises, speed and agility training, dumbbell & kettlebell training and more. Each class is lead by an instructor, taking you through your workout step-by-step, just like personal training without the added cost. This way you don’t have to worry about what you’re workout will be each day, nor do you have to question if you’re doing an exercise incorrectly. There is always a coach on staff to lead you through each workout. The cost is $20.

The Teen Center is now open for High School Students on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of every month from 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm. The Center is staffed by a young adult who has his/her clearances. Special Events include: Games, Movies, Drumming, Nintendo Wii, Live music and Open Mic nights. Some Fridays are just TGIF nights to hang with friends. There is free access to the Teen Center with a $25 yearly membership. All teens are admitted with a $5 guest fee charge.
