At the beginning of its 153rd year, Greene Street Friends School welcomed three new lead teachers and two teaching assistants. From left, William Richardson, fourth grade teaching assistant, is pursuing his degree in education from Temple University. Joshua McHugh, teaching assistant in the 3/4 multi-age class, graduated from Haverford College in 2006 and is currently enrolled in a pre-health/special science program at the University of Pennsylvania. Marie Huard, art Grades Pre-K through 8, has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Temple University. April Stein, first grade teacher, was a long-term substitute in the fourth grade at Greene Street last year. Stein earned her bachelor’s degree in Psychology and English from Southern Methodist University, and completed an Elementary Education Certification Program there. Chaci Fisher is the Literacy Specialist and Learning Support Tutor. Fisher holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Weber State University in Elementary Education and a Master’s of Education from Arizona State in Curriculum Instruction and Design.

Mr. and Mrs. Dennis A. Dolan of East Falls are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Danielle Corinne Carmody, to Stefen Angelo Martilini, son of  R. Angelo Martilini of Marmora, N.J. and Carolyn Martilini of Huntington Beach, Cali.
Danielle is also the daughter of the late Thomas A. Carmody of Germantown.  She is a 1997 graduate of The Philadelphia High School for Girls.  Danielle received her Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from West Chester University.  She is a CPA, currently working for Exelon Generation, LLC.
Stefen is a 1990 graduate of Hammonton High School and is currently a Technical Analyst for Comcast Corporation.

The couple shares their West Chester home with their dog, Bella.  A June 2008 wedding is planned.

BE A BIRDWATCHER: For the 20th year, the Militia Hill Hawk Watch is being held at Militia Hill in Fort Washington State Park, located on Route 73, one and three-eighths of a mile north of Route 309. The watch started Sept. 1 and will end on Oct. 31. The average season count has been 9,967 raptors, with a total of 179,401 since 1988. On the one day of Sept. 18, 1995, 13,079 Broad-winged hawks were seen. Volunteer compilers are on duty every day, 9 to 5. BELLY UP TO THE DANCE FLOOR: Debbie “Lalume” Panebianco (left), who has extensive ballet training and 25 years of experience as a professional Middle Eastern dancer, will be teaching beginning and intermediate belly dancing, eight weekly sessions each, beginning Sept. 25 and 26, respectively, for Mt.
