Purple is in for Hill’s fall fashion
It was only two weeks ago that the bright lights of the Casablanca-themed Black and White Gala went out, but in just one week glamour will return to the Avenue — this time, however, the theme will be purple, and the lights will be coming from Highland Avenue with the Matthew Izzo Fall Fashion show. On the evening of Oct. 4, models will strut down a runway erected on Highland specifically for this show to help raise money for the Lutheran Settlement House in Germantown, which provides free services, such as counseling, legal advocacy and education and training, for women and children who are victims of domestic violence. The evening features the lines and fashions sold by Matthew Izzo in his namesake store in Center City and at his online store, www.matthewizzo.com. The Izzo enterprise, which Barry Eichner, general manager of 3000BC, referred to as a “lifestyle store,” combines beauty, clothes and interior home fashions under one roof. “The show will include the hottest names out of New York,” Eichner said. “We see it as an opportunity to promote Chestnut Hill to a new market. This is something new, hip and exciting.” 3000BC and The Chestnut Hill Village Apartments are the event’s main sponsors. They were planning the event before learning that the Chestnut Hill Business Association and the Chestnut Hill Community Association planned to dedicate October to raising both awareness of domestic violence and money for the Lutheran Settlement House in Germantown. Adding the Fashion Show to the CHBA’s “Going Purple” events through October was an easy match. “The Lutheran Settlement House is a charity that we can support that is right next door to us,” Eichner said. “I’m excited to be a part of this event supporting the Lutheran Settlement House,” Izzo said. “The work that they do is a great gift of kindness …… to help strengthen and heal survivors of abuse. I feel honored to be helping in any way I can and urge others to do so.” The money raised through October goes to the Lutheran Settlement House’s Purple Ribbon Campaign, a three-month, citywide effort to raise awareness of the problems of domestic violence. The show’s festivities begin at 6:30 p.m. with a cocktail hour, live music and hors d’oeuvres. The fashion show begins at 7:30 p.m., with Anita Brikman, the Channel 6 Action News HealthCheck reporter, as the evening’s mistress of ceremonies. After the show, 3000BC is hosting a party. Tickets for that are $50 and can be obtained by calling the Lutheran Settlement House. The fashion show itself is free.
