GFS cross country fifth, Kaulbach a close second at Regionals

The GFS cross country team completed a successful season last weekend. The team was the best in its league and was extremely competitive in several regional tournaments. It placed fifth in the Northeast Regionals held on Saturday, Nov. 24.

Facing elite cross country runners hailing from New Jersey to Maine, Germantown Friends School senior Max Kaulbach finished second and the Tigers placed fifth in the team standings at the Nike‚ Northeast Regional Team Championships last Saturday.

 

Mount crew cleans up in fall regattas

At its Conshohocken boathouse last Saturday, the Mount St. Joseph Academy crew celebrated a successful fall 2007 campaign at its annual Class Day festivities. One of the highlights was the christening of an eight-oared shell named for Philadelphia rowing great Lawrence J. Kieffer, grandfather of current Mount senior and varsity eight rower Lawren Kieffer.

 

CHC men’s basketball back in building mode

When Chestnut Hill College began to accept male undergraduates in the fall of 2003, newly hired basketball coach Jesse Balcer set about creating a viable NCAA Division III program with a roster of young players. After building up over the past four years to become the North Eastern Athletic Conference runner-up last winter, Balcer and his current charges are now beginning a similar construction project.

CHC women’s basketball opens with 2-1 road trip

Prior to this Wednesday’s home opener, the Chestnut Hill College women launched their basketball season with a three-game road trip, completing the journey last Tuesday with a 62-54 victory at Delaware Valley College in Doylestown.
