Primary debate comes to Hill Residents of Northwest Philadelphia will have an opportunity to discuss the Democratic presidential primary contest at a town hall meeting on Tuesday, April 1, sponsored by the Ninth Ward Democratic Committee. The meeting will be held at the Venetian Club, 8030 Germantown Ave. Doors will open at 7 p.m. for the 7:30 p.m. meeting. The event will include an appearance by Mayor Michael Nutter, who will speak on behalf of Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. Obama campaign officials had not chosen a representative at press time, according to Ninth Ward Democratic Leader John O’Connell, but were certain a “regional, high-level surrogate” would speak on his behalf. In addition to the Presidential nomination race, topics of discussion at the town hall meeting will include the selection of state delegates — both Clinton and Obama have slates of delegates that will appear on the ballot. All are welcome to attend, though seating at The Venetian Club is limited. For more information, O’Connell can be reached at 267-312-1925 or john@elfantwissahickon.
