JUNETEENTH Historic Germantown Preserved, a consortium of historic house museums in northwest Philadelphia, is partnering with the West Oak Lane Jazz and Arts Festival the weekend of June 21-22 to offer programs that celebrate Juneteenth and explore the rich history of African American freedom during Jazz Fest weekend. From 10 a.m.-5 p.m. each day, visitors to historic sites in Germantown can enjoy a variety of performances and activities that celebrate African American heritage, including storytellers, musicians, art exhibits, and costumed reenactors at participating sites in Historic Germantown’s Juneteenth Celebration. These include Stenton, located at the corner of 18th street and Windrim Avenue, and Cliveden, Concord Schoolhouse, and the Johnson House, located in the 6300 and 6400 blocks of Germantown Avenue. MT. SUNDAY, JUNE 22 AUTISM BENEFIT PJ Whelihan’s Pub, 799 Deklab Pike, Blue Bell will sponsor Music For Milagre Jammin’ for a Cause to benefit the Milagre Kids School for Children with Autism. At least seven local bands will perform starting at 3 p.m. Milagre, a non-profit school, was started by parents and teachers of autistic children to improve the lives of children with autistic spectrum disorders and provide them with superior long-term outcomes.
