Catch the reading bug this summer
Chestnut Hill Branch Library, 8711 Germantown Ave., recently held a contest as part of its summer reading game, Catch the Reading Bug. For two weeks the library’s young users were asked to suggest names for a stuffed ladybug that sits on the librarian’s desk.
Three finalists were picked and at a Bug Party on July 2, a winner was voted on. Rosalena, suggested by Tessa Haugh, 9, of Chestnut Hill, won by a landslide. Haugh received two books as a thank you gift for her creativity: The Bug Scientists by Donna M. Jackson and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J.K. Rowling. Other children are invited to sign up for the summer reading game, in which they can earn stickers by reading, watching movies, using the computer, and other library activities. They can stop by the branch to sign up and get a free library lanyard, along with other weekly prizes.
They can also enter a raffle to take Rosalena home at the end of the summer.
