Johanna Owings and Steven Sharik were married on June 7 on Long Beach Island, N.J. The bride is the daughter of Agneta B. and the late Robert B. Owings, of Flourtown, formerly of Germantown. The groom is the son of Frank Sharik Jr. and the late Sandra Sharik. Owings is a physician at an area hospital and Sharik is a chemist at Merck pharmaceuticals. An ocean side ceremony was performed at sunset, followed by a reception. The couple will reside in Ambler. |

HEALTH AIDE HEROES: On Wednesday, July 23, Keystone Home Health Services and Keystone Hospice administrative and clinical staff in Wyndmoor donned aprons to serve an appreciation dinner and present service awards to its home health care aides. This fourth annual recognition event was a way to acknowledge the caring and support that each of the agency’s 100 home health aides provide every day to hundreds of home care and hospice patients throughout greater Philadelphia. SCIENTIFIC MUSICIAN: Chestnut Hill resident Jim Tisdall is a guitarist who has appeared solo and with his own bands, and has played with various artists including Nico (of the Velvet Underground), the James Cotton Blues Band and electric guitar innovator Allan Gittler, among others. His latest CD, just released, is Three Men in a Boat, with help from guitarist David Bromberg and bass player Tyrone Brown. Tisdall is also a research scientist in genetics, having worked on the human genome project at the University of Pennsylvania and at Fox Chase Cancer Center. FREE CONCERT SATURDAY: Walk a Crooked Mile Books continues its 2008 concert season with a free concert by Mark Garrett and friends on Saturday, Aug. 16, from 7-9 p.m. at the Mount Airy Train Station, Gowen and Devon Street.
