![]() Jonathan Sternberg receives award for lifetime service from Conductors Guild
The Conductors Guild recently selected Jonathan Sternberg for its Lifetime Service Award in recognition of long-standing service to the art and profession of conducting. The Conductors Guild, with a membership of over 1,850 members representing all 50 states and more than 30 other countries, is the only music service organization devoted exclusively to the advancement of the art of conducting and to serving the artistic and professional needs of conductors. Sternberg, who has conducted orchestras all over the world and has impacted the lives of students from many countries, has provided the profession with numerous corrected editions of standard orchestral literature, embodying insights from a life spent in close examination of this music. He has also served the Conductors Guild for many years as editor-at-large and has written articles on various topics for the Guild’s publication Podium Notes. In grateful appreciation for this longtime service, the Conductors Guild Lifetime Service Award includes a lifetime membership in the Guild for Sternberg. The award was presented to Sternberg at the Annual Conference for Conductors on Jan. 10 at the Park Central Hotel in New York. For more information on this award or the Annual Conference, visit Website: www.conductorsguild.org or contact Amanda Winger at guild@conductorsguild.org or 804-553-1378.
