![]() Former Caruso’s owner jailed on new charges Former Caruso’s Market owner John J. Capoferri was arrested last month on charges of forgery, witness intimidation, terroristic threats and failure to repay a $500,000 debt, according to the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office. He was being held in jail on $100,000/10 percent bail as of deadline. Assistant District Attorney Beth Leahy identified the complainant in the case as Richard Maloumian, a prominent Chestnut Hill property owner, and confirmed that Capoferri would be arraigned July 8 on criminal charges. Leahy could not discuss the charges in any detail because of the pending arraignment. Maloumian declined to comment. He said that all questions should be directed to the District Attorney’s Office. Capoferri was arraigned July 2 on criminal charges for allegedly passing bad checks to a contractor who had helped remodel Capoferri’s home. Leahy said that Capoferri would be tried on those charges separately.
