The following crimes are from the week of July 19 to July 25, 2009.

July 20. 8100 block Ardleigh St. Complainant states that an unknown person was inside his unlocked blue 2006 Toyota and stole his Magellan global positioning system. Male, 6’ tall, dark clothing, fled northbound on Ardleigh Street. Occurred at 12:01 a.m.

July 20. 8100 block Ardleigh St. Complainant states that she was unlocking door and a black male tapped her on the shoulder and attempted to rip off her purse from her shoulder, dragging her about three feet. Offender fled northbound through parking lot. Male, 5’6” to 5’7” tall, thin build, light complexion, wearing a gray hoodie with dark lettering, shorts, black socks up to calf and black high top sneakers. Occurred at 7:50 a.m.

July 22. Unit block W. Springfield Ave. Complainant states that between 7:30 and 10:15 p.m., an unknown person broke the driver’s side window and stole one Toshiba Tablet PC, one iPod video, company planner, briefcase and purse with prescriptions.

July 23. 400 block E. Mermaid Lane. Complainant states she was walking from train when a black male approached her from behind and pulled out a black gun and told her to give him her handbag. She gave him her bag and he fled westbound on Mermaid Lane toward shopping center. Male, 5’6” tall, dark complexion, blue or black and white striped shirt and blue jeans. Occurred at 12:23 a.m.

July 23. 7900 block St. Martin’s Lane. Complainant states that she was out of town when an unknown person[s] cut screen window in living room and stole the following: 12 diamond rings, 12 gold/silver chains, one Movado watch and one large gold choker. Complainant states that electrical contractors were working on property. Family friend saw jewelry box on living room floor at approximately 12:30 p.m. on July 22.

July 25. 7800 block Germantown Ave. Employee was in rear of store taking out trash when an unknown person came up from behind him, put an unknown object against his back and ordered him to go inside and get on floor. Offender went into office, ordered another employee to get on floor and proceeded to take money from safe. Offender fled through rear door. No injuries to employees. Occurred at 9:45 p.m.

Summary — Six crimes for week: one burglary, three robberies and two thefts from vehicles. Fresh air is great but remember to keep doors and windows locked. Keep belongings out of sight in vehicles.
