Motorist hits stone wall, then runs
by Pete Mazzaccaro
It was easy for Kimberly Freeman to recall the day she was awakened at 2 a.m. by a loud crash. It was Sept. 5, her birthday.
But when she looked out her window, she didn’t see anything resembling a gift. Instead she saw a black Audi A6 that had crashed right through a stone wall that separates her back yard from a curve where West Evergreen Avenue turns into Navajo Street.
“The car was halfway in my yard,” Freeman said. “I called 911 right away… I was sure whoever was driving was injured.”

Wyndmoor author tells how to keep your job in this economy
by LEN LEAR
A little more than a year ago, Wyndmoor magazine writer and business book author Bob Calandra got a phone call from his agent with a book proposal. He said that a publisher he knew wanted a book written on “how to keep your job while everyone around you is losing theirs.” This was several months before the near-Depression collapse of the U.S.economy, fueled by countless home foreclosures, unwise mortgage loans, overextension of credit, etc.

Less is not always more
This week, the Chestnut Hill Community Association will consider a proposal by its Budget and Finance Committee to, in the wording in this week’s agenda (see page 2) enact “Fundamental Measures to Safeguard the Solvency and Future of Our Local.”
The proposal will set requirements for the Local to, over three years, aggressively pay back $82,698.11 in loans (as of Aug. 31) and begin to sock away $125,000 for a “rainy day” reserve. These payments add up to thousands of dollars a month.

JUST WANTED TO ASK YOU WHETHER FEDEX GIVES YOU ANY GRIEF ABOUT YOUR HAIR?
No, it’s OK. I’m there almost 20 years and I do a good job, so...
IS THERE A POLICY ON IT?
Well, it’s sort of a decision district by district. And my run is actually in Mount Airy so it’s a pretty cool neighborhood like Chestnut Hill. They don’t hear anything so it’s all good.”
Interview with Marty Maynard, Fedex driver.
